Binaural Noise Reduction Using Frequency-Warped FIR Filters

چکیده
Binaural noise-reduction techniques based on Multichannel Wiener filters (MWF) have been reported as promising candidates to be used in binaural hearing aids because of their efficient noise reduction at any arbitrary direction of arrival of the target signal and the preservation of localization cues. The implementation of these techniques have been reported for FFT-based processing and wavelet-packet-based (WP) processing. In these implementations, the latency is large and limited to the block processing inherent in the FFT and WP computation. This paper proposes a different implementation for MWF by means of frequency-warped FIR filters, providing a performance near a WP-based MWF and smaller latency.

Warped Discrete-Fourier Transform: Theory and Applications
In this paper, we advance the concept of warped discrete-Fourier transform (WDFT), which is the evaluation of frequency samples of the -transform of a finite-length sequence at nonuniformly spaced points on the unit circle obtained by a frequency transformation using an allpass warping function. By factorizing the WDFT matrix, we propose an exact computation scheme for finite sequences using le...
متن کاملDigital Audio Filter Design Using Frequency Transformations
This thesis involves designing discrete-time filters for modifying the spectrum of audio signals. The main contribution of this research is the significant reduction in the order of the filters. To achieve this, we have combined a technique called frequency transformation, or frequency warping, with an effective Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter design algorithm. Both techniques exploit some...
متن کاملClosed-form Frequency Estimation Using Second-order Notch Filters
In this paper the problem of the frequency estimation of a sinusoid embedded in white noise is considered. The approach used herein is the minimization of the sample variance of the output of constrained notch filters fed by the noisy sinusoid. In particular, this paper focuses on closed-form expressions of the frequency estimate, which can be obtained using notch filters having an all-zeros FI...
متن کاملSimply Realization of Sound Localization Using HRTF Approximated by IIR Filter
HRTFs (head-related transfer functions) are available for sound field reproduction with spatial fidelity, since HRTFs involve the acoustic cues such as interaural time difference, interaural intensity difference and spectral cues that are used for the perception of the location of a sound image. Generally, FIR filters are used in the simulation of HRTFs. However, this method is not useful for a...
متن کاملFIR filter representations of reduced-rank noise reduction
We show that the reduced-rank output signal computed via truncated (Q)SVD is identical to that from an array of parallelly connected analysis-synthesis finite impulse response (FIR) filter pairs. The filter coefficients are determined by the (Q)SVD, and the filters provide an explicit description of the reduced-rank noise reduction algorithm in the frequency domain.
